The 23-year-old has already seen Leeds' offer for him flounder, and now it seems that Newcastle may have also failed.
Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is known to have flown out to see Atletico PR officials on Tuesday, but their president has now dismissed their first offer.
"Some Newcastle representatives came to visit us, but they made such a short offer that the meeting didn't last long. They quickly returned to England,' said Mario Celso Petraglia.
"They [Newcastle] came here with a couple of million US dollars and thought they could get any player. They thought Brazilian football is in bankruptcy and on sale."
Petraglia has already stated that his club are not in financial trouble and do not need to sell their prized assets.
"We have until January 31 to find a team for Kleberson. And if we don't find one then he will stay in Atletico Paranaense for at least one more season."
If no deal is struck for Kleberson soon, then the player will remain in Brazil until the summer, when the transfer window reopens.
