Ambrose was snapped up for around £1 million from Ipswich Town, and Magpies boss Sir Bobby Robson has already been generous in his praise of the young wide-man.
"I knew I would be leaving Ipswich eventually and I felt Newcastle was the best club to come to because they give youngsters a real chance," said Ambrose.
"With Ipswich lads like Kieron Dyer and Titus Bramble here and a manager [Robson] everyone in Ipswich thinks the world of, it was already a big plus.
"People in Ipswich say that the best manager in the world is here.
"Newcastle's reputation is good and, for a young lad like me, there couldn't be a better place to come.
"I was enjoying myself at Ipswich but they are in a bit of a financial state and they accepted the bid.
"I know what I have come to and I couldn't be happier."
