Ambrose's former club Ipswich Town enquired about taking the 19-year-old back to Portman Road on a temporary basis but were rebuffed by Magpies chief Sir Bobby Robson.
The England Under-21 international revealed his relief at Robson's decision, stating that his overriding desire is to stay at St James' Park and establish himself in the Newcastle first-team.
"I didn't want to go on loan," declared Ambrose.
"I came here to play for Newcastle, not other clubs, and I want to play my football here for the rest of the season.
"Ipswich were one of the clubs interested in me, but although I had some fabulous times there, I didn't want to go back.
"I feel I can learn more at Newcastle because of the players I'm training with every day.
"I was obviously a little worried that one of the bids would be accepted, but the manager took me aside and he told me he wanted me to stay.
"He has told me to get my head down, keep working hard and I'll get my chance in the first-team.
"That was all I needed to hear and I was delighted to stay."
