Owls boss Chris Turner is keen to bolster his attack and has been active in the market during the past month.
Turner has lured Mark Robins to Hillsborough and also has Mark Burchill from Portsmouth on a temporary basis.
But Burchill's loan expires next week which will prompt Turner to explore other options for ensuring he has sufficient strength in depth.
He has reportedly turned to former Wales international Roberts for a short-term solution to his quest.
Roberts has been largely deployed as a substitute by The Canaries this season and may welcome the chance of one last move.
Meanwhile, chairman Dave Allen played down reports that The Owls may be heading for administration, claiming that extra funding has been put in place by board directors.
In other news, Turner is awaiting a decision from Newcastle United defender Gary Caldwell on if he will come to Hillsborough on loan next week.
The former Hartlepool United boss was looking to Caldwell or Middlesbrough's Colin Cooper to boost his injury-ravaged backline and he will hope the Newcastle player makes the temporary move to South Yorkshire.
