Newcastle have been dealt a blow with the news that Stephen Carr is out for a month.Newcastle have been dealt a blow with the news that full back Stephen Carr is set for at least a month on the sidelines.
Carr returned to the Newcastle team for last weekend's defeat against Manchester United, having missed the previous three games, but he limped out after just 18 minutes.
The Republic of Ireland international defender hobbled down the tunnel with a knee injury and scans have revealed damage to the patella which will keep him out for a month.
The summer signing from Tottenham has been one of Newcastle's most consistent performers and his absence will leave a huge void in an already shaky defence.
Magpies manager Graeme Souness will hope Carr can prove his fitness in time for the busy festive period when his side's defence is likely to be tested to the full.
