Boa Morte signs new deal

Luis Boa Morte has signed a new deal at Fulham.

Luis Boa Morte has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal at Fulham.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a possible move to Newcastle with Graeme Souness confirming his interest in the winger.

However, Boa Morte has now ended Newcastle's hopes of bringing him to St James' Park by extending his stay at Craven Cottage.

The new deal will keep Boa Morte at Fulham until the summer of 2008.

The news will be a massive boost to Chris Coleman who had been keen to keep Boa Morte at the club, and the Fulham boss was delighted to secure the player's future.

"I am delighted that after lengthy negotiations that Luis has signed an extension to his contract," Coleman told the club's official website.

"I have made no secret of Boa's importance to the squad and obviously after the speculation that has surrounded the last few weeks I am even more happy that we have finally managed to put pen to paper."

Boa Morte was happy to stay at Fulham despite the rumours of a move away.

"I have been at Fulham for a number of years now and I enjoy my football here; I am happy that we have reached an agreement to enable me to remain a Fulham player and I am looking forward to the remainder of the season," added Boa Morte.
