Fulham star Luis Boa Morte has admitted he still wants to play for a 'bigger' club.Fulham star Luis Boa Morte has admitted he still wants to play for a 'bigger' club.
The Portuguese international only signed a new long-term deal earlier this month, after interest was shown by Newcastle United.
However, rather than assuring Fulham he wanted to remain in West London - he still insists he wants to play for a big club.
"I would like to have a new challenge of course with a bigger club," Boa Morte told Sky Sports.
"With all the respect to the supporters of Fulham, I would like to play for a bigger club.
"It would be good for me if I had gone [to Newcastle]. It would be because they are a big cub who always play in the Champions League or Uefa Cup so it would have been good to play there and improve my football.
"Since I have moved here my football has improved and I have learnt a lot of stuff but I am 27 and would like a bigger challenge."
Explaining why he signed a new deal, Boa Morte said it was down to Fulham boss Chris Coleman.
"I had a good conversation with Chris Coleman and we reached an agreement," he added.
Boa Morte's team-mate Edwin van der Sar - who also pledged his future to the club this month - admitted he would have left if the former Arsenal and Southampton winger had gone.
"It probably would have been different if they had let Luis go, they would have maybe had some other thoughts," he told Sky Sports.
"I think it is important the club shows that they want to keep their best players and I still feel we can do much more than we are achieving at the moment."
The Dutchman also suggests he could have moved to Manchester United or Arsenal if they had made contact with him
"I think if I would have had a call from Sir Alex [Ferguson] or Arsene Wenger that they were interested in something, then probably I wouldn't have signed here, to be honest," he continued.
"But they haven't called, so probably that stays in the past.
"I am not going to wait forever and I am happy here."
