The giant Belgian stopper played an important role in Hamburg's impressive recovery in the second half of last season and the German media were full of speculation that van Buyten could be about to move to Bayern Munich or Newcastle United.
The 27-year-old has, however, publicly committed himself to Hamburg for next season.
"I will be staying. My head and my heart belong to Hamburg and I'm very happy to be here," he told Bild.
"The club has secured the services of some good players. We have a good team and we want to do better than last season," he added.
Meanwhile, Hamburg boss Dietmar Beiersdorfer has confirmed that the Rothosen are willing to sell striker Emile Mpenza for the right price.
Greek outfit Olympiakos have already had a é¼2 million bid for the Belgian international rejected, but Beiersdorfer is ready to listen if more money is put on the table.
"If they make a new offer, then we are ready to think about it," he said.
