Emre has hauled himself off the treatment table to hand Newcastle a fitness fillip.Turkish star Emre has hauled himself off the treatment table to hand Newcastle a much-needed fitness fillip.
The midfield schemer picked up a hamstring injury on international duty last week and it was initially feared he would be out of action for around a month.
Emre missed Saturday's disappointing stalemate with West Ham and is also set to sit out the trip to Bolton on Wednesday, but is ready to return for Sunday's meeting with Manchester United at St James' Park.
The former Internazionale midfielder is looking to return to full training this week and provided he suffers no reaction, will declare himself fit for the meeting with The Red Devils.
"I was disappointed to get injured with Turkey, especially as I had to miss the game with West Ham because of it," Emre told the club's website. "But it is not serious, the injury is not a problem for me.
"I know there was some talk that I could be out for six weeks, but it is nowhere near as bad as that.
"I will not be ready to play against Bolton, but I hope to be okay for the game with Manchester United on Sunday.
"I just turned quickly in the game with Bulgaria and felt my hamstring, so I came off straight away so I did not make it worse.
"I stayed in Turkey for some treatment after the game, then I came back to Newcastle.
"I will work hard in training this week, and then speak with the gaffer and the physiotherapists at the end of the week."
