Viana jumped at Che chance

Hugo Viana has revealed he had no hesitation in accepting a move to Valencia.

Hugo Viana has revealed he had no hesitation in joining Valencia from Newcastle United once he heard of the Primera outfit's interest.

The Portuguese star moved to Spain on a season-long loan with his chances of regular action at St James' Park once again limited this term.

A number of clubs had shown an interest in the Magpies misfit including Valencia's Primera rivals Celta Vigo.

However, after speaking to Portugal international team-mates Marco Caneira and Miguel who also ply their trade at the Mestalla, Viana had no hesitation in accepting the Che offer.

"I spoke with Caneira and Miguel and they told me marvellous things about the club and the people that are here," he stated.

"Four or five teams were interested in me, but when I was told I had the option of going to Valencia I said yes immediately.

"Valencia is a big club with a great history and a great team. I am very happy."

Viana also revealed he is hoping to impress sufficiently this season to earn a permanent move to the Mestalla.

"I am going to work hard to try and ensure I can stay here longer," he added.
