Scott Parker has successfully appealed against the booking he received on Sunday.
The yellow card issued against Newcastle's Scott Parker during Sunday's derby clash with Sunderland has now been transferred to Stephen Carr.
The FA upheld Parker's appeal after referee Rob Styles mistakenly booked him for a late tackle on Andy Welsh in the first half - a foul which was actually perpetrated by team-mate Carr.
Consequently, had Styles correctly identified the former Tottenham man, Newcastle would have been reduced to ten men for the majority of the second half when Styles did book him for a separate challenge in the 49th minute.
Carr, already out of action due to a groin strain, will now serve a one-match ban with immediate effect, ruling him out of Wednesday's Carling Cup clash with Grimsby Town.
The trip to Blundell Park is live on Sky Sports 2.
Sunderland are likely to be frustrated by the ruling as they slipped to an unlucky 3-2 defeat against their fierce local rivals in one of the games of the season so far.
