Australia have suspended Newcastle United defender Craig Moore from their squad.
Australia have suspended Newcastle United defender Craig Moore from their squad for Saturday's international friendly against Paraguay.
The Magpies stopper was unable to attend a training session and participate in several public commitments after missing a flight from Sydney to Brisbane on Wednesday.
Australia coach Graham Arnold is fuming with Moore's actions, but made it clear it is not the end of the 30-year-old's international career.
"He has let the team and the FFA down on this occasion," explained Arnold. "I have let him know that, and he accepts the decision made.
"It will not be the end of his international career by any means."
Moore has issued a swift apology following the incident and is desperate to remain part of Australia's squad following a successful World Cup in Germany.
"I apologise to my team mates, the coach, FFA and the fans, about missing training and about the media interest which this incident has caused," he said in a statement.
"I am still deeply passionate about the national team and proud of what we achieved during the World Cup want to continue to be part of it."
