Glenn Roeder says Emre has been 'knocked sideways' by allegations of racism.
Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has revealed that Emre has been 'knocked sideways' by allegations of racism.
The Turkish international has been charged by The Football Association with using racially-aggravated language during Newcastle's defeat at Everton on 30th December.
Emre is set to fight to clear his name and Roeder says the club will back the 26-year-old to the hilt.
"The allegations against Emre of racial abuse have knocked him sideways," said Roeder. "He is very upset about them and he is denying them all.
"The club is supporting him and standing by him. But this has nothing to do with his absence from the team at the moment.
"He has a calf strain and once that clears up, he will be available and up for selection."
