Everton boss David Moyes was a frustrated man after seeing his team pegged back to a 2-2 draw against Newcastle.

The Toffees had looked set to win it after Victor Anichebe had scored late on but substitute Demba Ba netted his second of the evening in the final minute to claim a share of the points.

That may have seemed harsh on Everton after they had seen Marouane Fellaini have an effort ruled out for a marginal offside call before Anichebe sparked another goal-line technology debate.

The Nigerian forward headed over the line only for the officials to wrongly judge that Mike Williamson had successfully cleared the ball.

Asked if his team felt they should have won the game, Moyes told Sky Sports after Monday's game: "Yeah, we do. But we've got ourselves to blame for that.

"We played well tonight. But for different reasons, not just ourselves conceding a late second goal, but we also thought we had other goals in the game that should've counted.

Difficult

"I think it's a difficult call for them but if you're the linesman you're on the line and you'd hope you'd see if the ball went over the line.

"That's their job. He's looking right along so you'd hope he would see it."

Everton had looked comfortable before the break with Leighton Baines opening the scoring early on.

But the introduction of Ba at the interval changed the game as he scored within minutes after Yohan Cabaye dispossessed Leon Osman.

Moyes was unhappy with the manner of that goal but gave credit to Newcastle and was positive about much of his side's play.

"Our team played great all night," added Moyes.

"We gave them a goal back - gave the ball away badly - and they got back to one each.

Better

"But I didn't think it altered. We had a wee bit of a wobble for five or 10 minutes after that. Undoubtedly Newcastle played better in the second half.

"But you're talking about one or two goals that should've counted and we've scored to go 2-1 up and I thought we deserve that because we'd played very well.

"Sometimes you need decisions to go your way and they didn't go for us tonight to give us that little bit of breathing space between us and Newcastle.

"We know we can do better and we'll try and do it but we think there's a lot of positives in our play tonight. It's just disappointing we could have taken all three points.

"Our defending second half could have been better but you've also got to give Newcastle credit as they've forced us into some mistakes."
