The Magpies are languishing in the bottom half of the standings after a run of six defeats in seven games, and have just a two-point cushion over the relegation zone.
QPR are the visitors to St James' Park this weekend, having moved off the foot of the table after their first win of the season, and Pardew does not want to get dragged into a scrap for survival.
"It's going to be one of those days we must win," Pardew told the Shields Gazette.
"Usually, reporters say it's a must-win game - I'm telling you it's must-win. That's what we need to do."
Pardew hopes the supporters will spur Newcastle on to success against a QPR team on a four-match unbeaten run under new manager Harry Redknapp.
"We're going to have a lot of pressure this week," he said.
"QPR will be expected to lose, so they can come and play with a little bit of freedom.
"Not us, we're going to have to play under monster pressure. It needs to be full up. They need to be right on our side, whatever happens - even if QPR go 2-0 up."
