The French international was subject to a failed transfer bid from Arsenal and was subsequently left out of the Magpies' side to face Manchester City, which they lost 4-0.
He has since not played against West Ham in the league or Morecambe in the cup and his lack of action this term has seen Cayabe not add to his solitary cap.
Deschamps told L'Equipe: "The players are free to make any career choices, but that could have consequences on the national team."
Sitting second
France are currently sitting second - and one point behind - world champions Spain in qualifying Group I ahead of forthcoming qualifiers against Georgia in Tblisi on 6 September and Belarus four days later in Gomel.
Deschamps has warned against complacency from his side as they bid to secure qualification for Brazil.
He said: "We have to win (against Georgia).
"We'll have in front of us a Georgia team that has nothing to lose and will fight like the away match (which the French won 3-1). We have to get ourselves in tournament mode and not think that we're superior and that we'll win.
"There's no such thing as an easy international these days. There are three points to play for and they won't gift them to us. Georgia didn't give up until the end against Spain (losing 1-0) and almost equalised in the final minute."
