The 23-year-old has made two appearances for Alan Pardew's team since joining them from Borussia Monchengladbach on loan in January, and could start for the Magpies against Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park on Wednesday.
The Netherlands international's last league goal came back in April last year, but he is keen on finding the net for Newcastle in the coming weeks.
"I have a good feeling playing for the Newcastle fans," De Jong told the Shields Gazette.
"When I came on against Sunderland, we were 2-0 down, of course, but the fans were still cheering me, and that gives me a good feeling.
"I just want to work hard for the team. I want to score goals and make some assists.
"That's important for the team. I know they will support me if I work hard for the team.
"Tottenham are a good team," he added. "But we play at home, so we've got a chance to beat them.
"It's going to be really tough. They have some good players."
