Manuel Pellegrini says Yaya Toure is solely focused on Manchester City's push for silverware this season and insists the midfielder is not thinking about his future.
Toure has 18 months left on his current deal with City and his agent, Dimitri Seluk, hinted earlier this week that the 32-year-old could move on in the summer.
Pellegrini refused to rule out a summer exit for Toure, admitting "at the end of the season you never know what will happen with anyone".
But the City manager also said he was convinced Toure was able to "think in the present" rather than about the future.
"I don't want to try to answer to every agent who talks about different things," Pellegrini said.
"I know what Yaya thinks. I think that Yaya is mentally absolutely involved in this season, and that he is not thinking about his future.
"He wants to continue being the same important player that he has been for this team in other years."
City face West Ham on Saturday Night Football - live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 5pm - and Pellegrini says he wants his players to underline their Premier League title credentials at the Boleyn Ground.
Pellegrini's men currently sit in third place in the table and only trail second-placed Leicester and leaders Arsenal by a point.
However, City have struggled on the road in recent months, winning only one of their past seven away league matches.
That victory came in their last away league match - a 2-1 victory at Watford - and Pellegrini is keen to see his side build on that result.
"We must try to arrive as soon as we can at the top of the table," he said.
"It is not easy but we must try to demonstrate why we are fighting for the title."
