Wales have called Manchester City teenager Rabbi Matondo into their U21 squad for the first time.

The 17-year-old winger joined Manchester City's academy in March from Cardiff City, and Wales U21s boss Rob Page has handed Matondo a chance to make an early impression in their upcoming UEFA Championship qualifier in Liechtenstein.

Page said: "His favourite position is wide left and he's got pace I've never seen a player have before.

"He's exciting when he has the ball and he can get past players. I've seen him play at Man City numerous times and he's got a bright future in front of him.

"He can set up and score goals and I think he's ready for that step up into under-21s football."

By handing Matondo his most senior cap to date, Wales will be hoping they can win the youngster's loyalties as he also qualifies for England.
