Warnock is desperate to bolster his attack and is on the look-out for a hit-man who can guarantee him 20 goals per season.
Huckerby is currently on loan at Norwich City and has impressed during his stint at Carrow Road, with The Canaries eager to sign the 27-year-old permanently.
Wigan Athletic are also keen while City boss Kevin Keegan admits he is prepared to sell Huckerby during January's transfer window.
The Blades are also in the hunt for the former Leeds United forward with Warnock ready to fight it out with his First Division rivals to snare Huckerby's signature.
"Every Nationwide club would love to have Huckerby," commented Warnock. "He's a (Steve) Kabba-type of player. I've enquired about him, but so have other clubs.
"I can't see him going straight back out on loan when he's finished his loan spell at Norwich. I think City will see what happens when the transfer window re-opens in January."
In midweek Warnock also watched Wolves striker Dean Sturridge in action as he weighs up the best option to pep up his Blades front line.
Having missed out on Marlon Harewood, who joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest, Warnock is hoping to strengthen his armoury within the next fortnight.
"I've made no secret that I'm on the lookout for a striker and I'm not surprised to be linked with all sorts of names, such as Sturridge," he added.
"At the moment we are enquiring about who is available.
"We are looking at strikers and goalkeepers and, over the next ten days, there will be movement. We have spoken to a number of clubs, managers and agents.
"I was disappointed to miss out on Marlon Harewood earlier in the week, it caught me a little by surprise because we were quoted £2-£3 million in the summer."
