The Manchester City custodian has yet to make a first team appearance with Iain Dowie's side since joining The Latics last month.
Westwood has impressed in the reserves and will continue to provide cover for Oldham number one Les Pogliacomi.
Meanwhile, the club have revealed the three American-based businessmen that are in the stages of completing a takeover of the Division Two club.
New York-based Londoners Simon Blitz, Danny Gazal and Simon Corney are setting up a company to take full control of the club, with the trio having made their money in the mobile phone business.
Corney is set to move to Boundary Park to run over the day-to-day affairs of the club once the takeover is ratified next month by The Football League.
Blitz revealed it is a 'dream' to take control of a football club and they are confident of restoring Oldham's position back in Division One.
"You have to follow your dreams, if you don't fulfil your dreams then life passes you by and you realise you've maybe missed out," Blitz told the club's official website.
"It's exciting, nervous, it's everything.
"We've purchased the land and now we will start taking on ideas in terms of what the council want us to do and what the locals want on the site.
"We hope to use the site to help pay for the long term running of the club on a regular basis."
