Diomede rejects City

Former Liverpool midfielder Bernard Diomede has rejected a deal with Man City.

Former Liverpool midfielder Bernard Diomede has rejected a Premiership return with Manchester City.

Diomede has spent a large chunk of the past month training with Kevin Keegan's side and impressed sufficiently to earn a contract offer.

Keegan was keen to hand the 30-year-old a six-month deal at The City of Manchester Stadium but Diomede has snubbed the opportunity.

He is available on a free transfer after leaving Ajaccio in the summer but has opted not to accept the chance to prove he is no Premiership flop.

The 1998 World Cup winner barely featured during three years at Anfield but has spurned a second chance in England.

Diomede has now returned to France to train with Ligue 2 side Creteil, after spending time with Espanyol back in August.

The ex-Auxerre ace is hoping he will earn a longer term offer from Creteil as he looks to get his faltering career back on track.
