The 28-year-old midfielder has fallen out of favour at the Westfalenstadion this term and has already been informed he is surplus to requirements.
Once ranked as Germany's most prodigious young talent, Ricken has failed to live up to expectations since netting a spectacular goal in the 1997 UEFA Champions League final against Juventus.
Dortmund coach Bart Van Marweijk has already informed the player he has no future at the Bundesliga outfit but Ricken remains determined to see out the remainder of his contract.
City boss Kevin Keegan had reportedly spoken to Ricken's agent, Norbert Pflippen, but the former Germany international insists he wants to remain at Dortmund.
''Borussia is my life and you don't give away your life easily. I am ready to fight,'' Ricken told Bild.
