Steve McManaman has indicated he may retire in the summer.Manchester City midfielder Steve McManaman has indicated he may retire in the summer if he can not shake off his injury problems.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid ace has endured an injury-hit season this term which has limited his appearances for City.
McManaman is going to consider his future at the end of the season and admitted if things do no clear up he may hang up his boots.
"I will go away on holiday and sit down and if my body feels good I might carry on," McManaman told BBC Radio Five Live.
"If it feels terrible and I still have aches and pains then it might be time. But I won't know for six months or so.
"I've always been very lucky with injuries - until I went to Manchester City, where I've had numerous.
"Whether that's my body's way of telling me something's wrong, I will wait and see and have a break in the summer."
City caretaker boss Stuart Pearce has revealed he is going to hold talks with McManaman and fellow midfielder Paul Bosvelt over their futures with their current contracts due to expire in the summer.
"I've spoken with Paul and I'm going to speak with Steve this week with regard to their situation," Pearce told the club's official website.
"They will be made totally clear in regards to where they stand, as best as I possibly can at this stage."
