Musampa waits on future

Kiki Musampa has not ruled out the prospect of returning to Atletico Madrid.

Kiki Musampa has not ruled out the prospect of returning to Atletico Madrid next season, despite starting negotiations to make his loan to Manchester City permanent.

The Dutch midfielder has enjoyed a relatively successful spell at Eastlands and the Premiership club's new boss, Stuart Pearce, has said that he would like to make Musampa one of his first signings.

Pearce has spoken to the wide man's agent but has suggested City lack the funds to make a permanent bid for Musampa, with another loan deal being mooted.

"At the moment I am going back to Atletico," said Musampa.

"I do not know anything about my future. I have a future at Atletico until 2008 and I belong to them.

"It is up to the club to decide which team I play for next season, although I have not discarded the idea of playing for Atleti again."

Musampa has made 14 appearances for City this season after moving to England on loan in January and scored three times.

He admits that playing consistently has helped his game and he has enjoyed his time at Manchester City.

"When I play a lot of games I regain my confidence and I was able to score three goals," he said.

Musampa has also been keeping tabs on how Atletico are doing and is disappointed that they look set to end the season without achieving anything.

"It is a shame not to qualify for Europe and to have missed out on the Copa del Rey final. They were so close but could not finish it off."
