Nicky Weaver has undergone another operation as his injury problems continue.Nicky Weaver will miss the start of Manchester City's pre-season as he struggles with yet another injury.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper has had a horrendous time with injuries over the past couple of years as he needed surgery on a serious knee problem.
Weaver spent two years on the sidelines due to his problems and only returned to the first team in February.
This time it is Weaver's wrist which needed the attention and he is recovering from surgery on a broken bone - meaning he will miss the start of City's preparations for the new season.
"Nicky broke a small bone in his wrist at the end of last season," City boss Stuart Pearce told the club website.
"He played with the problem and it was a niggling injury that we thought he could get away with.
"He was having injections before matches and was happy to carry on in the hope that the bone would knit by itself during the summer.
"He has had surgery and had the bone pinned. The rehab will be six weeks and there could be two weeks on top of that so we are looking at two months.
"It is a blow to Nicky because his form was excellent at the end of last season.
"But the player's long term fitness is our priority. It is the right thing to do for Nicky.
"He will get himself right. He is a good professional lad and looks after himself well.
"The work he has put in during the last two years after his knee problem will stand him in good stead.
"He will keep his head right and come back to us all being well before the start of the new campaign."
With Weaver's previous injury problems, Pearce will be hoping he can this time enjoy a full recovery and play a part next season.
