Distin waits for French call

Manchester City star Sylvain Distin is still looking to seal a place in the France squad.

The domineering central defender has been impressive at the heart of City's defence over the past few seasons, but he is yet to earn a call-up to Raymond Domenech's squad.

"What I can do is just work hard and give my best in every game and in training," Distin told Sky Sports.

"If it's going to come it is only going to be through the club, so I don't think about it too much to be honest.

"I am working hard and if it happens it's a good reward, but if it doesn't happen it's because I'm not good enough and that's it."

Despite having a long-term contract at Eastlands, Distin has been the subject of a number of transfer offers - with both Aston Villa and Newcastle lodging bids over the last few months.

"Sometimes you think what if and why not, but the most important thing is what I am and I do not need to prove anything," Distin added.

"I don't want to comment and say no I don't want to go every time there is something in the newspapers. That will never stop them.

"I am here for three or four years now, I don't know if I'll finish here - I don't know where I am going to be, no-one will know, not even the club - that's football."
