Manchester City wide man Willo Flood has been ruled out until the middle of January.Manchester City wide man Willo Flood has been ruled out until the middle of January following a double hernia operation.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international went under the surgeon's knife last week to cure a troublesome groin injury.
Flood has spent the last two months on-loan at Coventry but saw his time at the Championship outfit curtailed by the need for an operation.
The player has conceded the surgery was an altogether unpleasant experience, with team-mate Richard Dunne having offered a pre-op warning.
''I was speaking to Richard Dunne beforehand and he told me it was the worst operation I will ever have and he wasn't wrong,'' he told the Irish Sun.
''I know I needed it but it wasn't pleasant. I have started my rehab but it is going to be well into January before I can play again.''
