Manchester City are close to securing new agreements with a trio of first-team stars.
Manchester City are hopeful that they will soon be able to secure the futures of Joey Barton, Sylvain Distin and Andy Cole.
Club officials have already initiated negotiations with Barton (pictured) and Cole, while they plan to speak with Distin over the next few days.
"I have taken my time because I want to make sure the club and I want to go in the same direction," the Frenchman told Key 103.
"It is not about whether I want to stay or go but sometimes these things take more time."
It is unlikely that there will be any hitches in tying Cole to a new deal and manager Stuart Pearce is confident that he can reach an agreement with Barton despite the fact that he recently handed in a transfer request.
"I have always been pretty positive about the situation with Joey," said Pearce.
"The chairman and chief executive spoke to him this week and hopefully we can move it along and get a resolution to it."
