Nicky Weaver has been offered a new contract by Manchester City.
Injury-plagued keeper Nicky Weaver has been offered a new contract by Manchester City.
Weaver has been plagued by knee trouble since 2002, but is now on the road to fitness and performed with credit on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the season.
City chief Stuart Pearce feels Weaver has the potential to return to top form and star in The Premiership and is ready to give him the security of a new deal.
"We have made Nick an offer because he has done exceptionally well for both us and while on loan," Pearce told the club's website.
With Belgian goalkeeper Geert De Vlieger likely to move on from City in the summer, Weaver will be given the chance to be David James' understudy and at 27, time is on his side to prove his quality in The Premiership.
Midfielder Lee Croft was offered a new deal at the end of last month and the 20-year-old is set to tie up his future at some point in the next week.
