City keep check on Mendy

Bernard Mendy has emerged as a possible target for Manchester City.

Bernard Mendy has emerged as a possible target for Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce.

The ex-Bolton Wanderers defender could leave Paris Saint Germain during the close season and is believed to be keen on a return to Premiership football.

French reports claim City have requested information on the full back's situation and are awaiting developments.

Pearce has indicated that he wants to introduce as many as eight new faces to his squad as he completely stamps his own influence on the team.

Mendy spent a year on loan at Bolton from 2002 and could be viewed as a possible replacement for Danny Mills if, as expected, the former England international remains unable to force his way into the starting line-up.

The 24-year-old is a full France international.
