Sylvain Distin has hinted he is ready to pen a fresh long-term deal at Man City.
Manchester City defender Sylvain Distin has hinted he is ready to pen a fresh long-term deal at Eastlands.
The experienced French stopper's deal is due to expire at the end of the season and it had been feared he could leave for free.
Distin has quashed speculation he has held talks with prospective parties and that given a choice - he would prefer to stay at City.
The former Newcastle United and Paris Saint Germain ace knows the importance of his next deal and wants City to match his level of ambition before he puts pen-to-paper.
"I see my name being linked with many clubs. However, I have not spoken to anybody," he told the club's official website.
"I want to stay playing in the Premiership and my preference is to stay here at Manchester City.
"The next contract I will sign is very important for me as I am now 29 years old and I need everything to be correct with it.
"I have ambition and I want to make sure that the next contract I sign is with somebody who has the same ambitions as me."
