Stuart Pearce has insisted Bernardo Corradi can still have a major role to play this season.
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has insisted Bernardo Corradi can still have a major role to play this season.
The Italian striker has been frustrated in his time at Eastlands and has now fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of Emile MPenza.
However, Pearce has called on Corradi to battle hard to win back his starting spot in the final weeks of the campaign.
"He gives me options, but Mpenza has come in and played quite well up front for us so it's down to him and any player when they are out of the team to fight for a place," Pearce told the club's official website.
"He's embraced being at City since day one, he has a good work ethic but maybe there's just a bit of frustration on his part.
"We're happy with him and I need everybody to be battling for a place over the next few weeks through to the end of the season."
Pearce added: "Bernardo's been in to see me through the course of the season to discuss how things have gone for him.
"But I reiterate that this is not the biggest squad in the world, and everyone's had a fair crack of the whip at this club this season.
"I don't think any senior players can say that they have not had enough games on the pitch to fight for a place in the team."
