Sean O'Driscoll admits he wants to bring Matthew Mills back to Doncaster Rovers on a permanent basis.
Mills joined Rovers on loan from Manchester City in August, but a knee injury cut short his stay in November.
He is now back to fitness and featured for City against Doncaster in a behind-closed-doors game earlier this week.
Wait and see
Doncaster boss O'Driscoll watched the defender and is now waiting to see how Mills reacts to the match before pressing on with a bid.
"We are still interested in signing Matt on a permanent basis and I spoke to a few people about him while I was there," O'Driscoll told the Sheffield Star.
"We'll wait and see how his knee reacts and take it from there."
Mills joined City two years ago from Southampton, but has made just two appearances during his time with the Premier League club.
Meanwhile, O'Driscoll has allowed Rovers midfielder Craig Nelthorpe to join Blue Square Premier side Halifax Town on a one-month loan deal.
