Sevilla striker reluctant to leave midway through the season

Luis Fabiano says he does not want to leave Sevilla in January after Manchester City bid for the striker. City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is looking to add a new forward to his squad before the close of the transfer window. Reports suggest Fabiano is a leading target, with the Brazilian claiming the Premier League club have offered 12million euros (£9million). But while Fabiano has admitted to it being a 'great opportunity', he is reluctant to leave the Uefa Cup holders midway through the season. The situation, however, is complicated by the fact Sevilla only own 35 per cent of his transfer rights and he accepts that could lead to his departure.

Talking

"I have never said I wanted to leave," Fabiano told the club's official website. "I don't want to go in the middle of the season. "It can't be ruled out because the group want to sell their part and has every right to do so. "We are talking to see what we can do. I will try to do everything to stay at Sevilla. "I am waiting to see what Sevilla are going to do to help me. The offer from Manchester City is 12million euros. "I am well, I don't want to leave now. I am happy, I am playing and I would not want to go in the middle of the season."
