Geovanni has spoken of a desire to stay at Manchester City as his year-long deal at Eastlands draws to a close.
The talented Brazilian has shown sporadic glimpses of his talent since arriving at City in the summer, but having made just two Premier League starts he has not convinced Sven Goran Eriksson he is worth a place in his first XI.
His winning goal in the Manchester derby has though secured his place in the hearts of the club's supporters and it is a relationship from which Geovanni derives great pleasure.
Content and settled in the North West, the South American craves a prolonged stay in England.
"It's been a brilliant year and the fans have really taken me to their hearts," the 28-year-old told the club's official website.
"Everywhere I go in Manchester they make me feel welcome and ask for pictures and autographs - they love me and I love them too.
"I would love to stay at the club, but as a professional footballer I have to consider all my options.
"Whether those options are in the UK, the Premier League or elsewhere we'll have to see, but I hope to be able to sort out my future in the next couple of weeks."
