City defender completes move to Keepmoat Stadium

Doncaster have confirmed the permanent signing of Manchester City defender Matthew Mills. The central defender enjoyed a loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium last season and has now penned a three-year deal with the Championship new boys. It had been speculated Swansea were also interested in the 22-year-old but Mills insists Doncaster were always his first choice. He told the club's official website: "It's been quite a long process. After the (play-off) final was over, there wasn't really a decision to make on my part. "I always wanted to come here and it was just the case of Manchester City allowing me to. "With all the experience I had last year and the memories of the highs, there has always been a good feeling to come back and now I have, I'm delighted."

New deal

Meanwhile, Doncaster defender James O'Connor has signed a two-year extension to his contract. The pacy right-back produced a series of excellent displays for Rovers throughout their promotion-winning season, and is now contracted to the club until 2011. "I'm delighted to have it all tied up, to be honest," said O'Connor. "I first heard from the club that they wanted to tie me up for a new deal at the end of last season, and I had no qualms about it at all. I wanted to get it done as soon as possible. "I'm the kind of person who likes to concentrate on nothing more than my football. To have a contract sorted this early before the season starts is a big deal for me. "I've been here for two years and had two great seasons with great memories already. Hopefully we can now add to that."
