Barcelona are preparing to increase the deal to keep Lionel Messi and warn other clubs off the star.

Further talks could take place in the summer

Barcelona are reportedly preparing to increase the deal to keep star man Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou and ward off any potential high-profile suitors. The Argentinian forward has been heavily tracked by a host of big clubs from all over the world with Manchester City linked with the 23-year-old. Messi originally signed a two-year extension with the Spanish giants last year which will keep him at the club until 2016 and made him the highest paid player. However, reports claim the Catalan club are prepared to up the ante and have further talks with Messi in the summer to send out a clear message to other teams that he is simply not for sale. It is understood that when Messi signed his original contract extension last year he was offered a salary of around 10.5million euros (£9.5m) per season after taxes.
