Roberto Mancini is taking his time before deciding whether to let Emmanuel Adebayor leave Manchester City this month.
Adebayor, 26, looked set to move on during the winter transfer window with the summer signing of Mario Balotelli having restricted the Togolese striker to just two Premier League starts this season.
Adebayor's frustration surfaced earlier this month as the ex-Arsenal man was involved in a training-ground bust-up with team-mate Kolo Toure and Mancini has boosted his squad with the signing of Edin Dzeko.
But Balotelli is now sidelined with a knee injury and is set to be out for up to a month.
Mancini therefore wants to wait until near the end of the transfer window before deciding whether to let Adebayor leave - either on loan or in a permanent deal after Real Madrid were linked with a bid.
"We must wait because Manu is a different situation," the City boss told Sky Sports News.
"There are a lot of teams that would want Manu, he is a different player, but at this moment I think that it's best we wait on Mario's situation.
"Maybe (he'll leave), but we must wait. We have another 20 days, we have time, so we must wait."
Mancini also rubbished reports he is lining up a move for in-form Tottenham wide-man Gareth Bale.
