Manchester City have handed a contract extension to new Ghana international Mohammed Abu.
The promising youngster, who is currently on loan with Norwegian side Stromsgodset, has signed a new deal with the Blues until 2014.
The 19-year-old's displays in Norway and the Europa League brought him to the attention of national team selectors, and he was handed his senior debut in Ghana's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan earlier this month.
A hardworking, tough-tackling midfielder, he joined City in the summer of 2010 and was immediately loaned to Stromsgodset, helping them win the Norwegian Cup last November.
City dream
"I'm so happy to get a new contract, and to see that the club has a lot of faith in what I've done," he told City's
official website.
"I am working towards the day when I can wear a Manchester City shirt in a first-team game."
Last summer City agreed to send Abu back to Stromsgodset on loan until January, and he has now racked up 32 appearances.
He is believed to have a good chance of being named in Ghana's squad for the African Cup of Nations early next year and scored his first professional goal last weekend, a 35-yard screamer against Sogdnal.
