Allegri admits deal for Argentine striker remains some way off

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is pessimistic regarding the club's chances of finalising a move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez. The reigning Serie A champions have spent much of the winter transfer window attempting to a strike a deal for the want-away forward. City are keen to get Tevez off their books, and the Argentina international has made it clear that he wants out of the Etihad Stadium. No agreement has been reached, though, despite interest from Milan giants AC and Inter and ambitious French outfit Paris St Germain. Milan were reported to have reopened talks with City in one last ditch attempt to push an agreement through before deadline day, but slow progress is being made.

No hope

Allegri claims to have discussed the matter with vice-president Adriano Galliani on Monday, and says he has been given no indication that Tevez is on his way. He said: "Tevez? I spoke with Galliani yesterday and there is no hope as yet." Meanwhile, Allegri has announced that any decision regarding the future of veteran frontman Filippo Inzaghi will be taken by the player himself, with reports continuing to suggest that he could be on his way to PSG. He added: "Inzaghi? If he were to leave, it would only be right to send him off with a great tribute. He will decide whether he goes or not." Bet Now
