The Argentinian's second-half hat-trick rescued City as they were forced to come from behind to avoid an FA Cup shock against Championship side Watford on Saturday.
City trailed 2-0 to Watford at half-time of their fourth-round tie at the Etihad Stadium, but it was a different story after the break.
Fernando Forestieri and Troy Deeney fired the Hornets into a shock 2-0 lead but Aguero's hat-trick and Aleksandar Kolarov's long-range strike turned the game in City's favour after the interval.
That took the 25-year-old's tally for the season to 25, six of which have come in four appearances since he returned from a month-long injury absence.
Aguero said: "The important thing is the goals contribute to the team's victory, the team wins and we win titles.
"I don't have any specific goals to reach - but as many as possible.
"We weren't expecting to score four goals. We knew at half-time we needed to improve and in the end, we won and we have made it to the next round. We are happy with that.
"In the first half, they played really well and put a lot of pressure on us but in the second half, we made fewer mistakes and we were able to get the goals. It is good we were able to come back."
City striker Stevan Jovetic, who came on as a second-half substitute and linked up well with Aguero and Edin Dzeko, is determined to kick-start his season.
The Montenegro international, who has struggled with injuries and illness since signing in a £22m move from Fiorentina last summer, is hoping to play a key role in the closing stages of the season.
Jovetic has so far been the odd man out among the strikers with Alvaro Negredo having scored 23 times and Dzeko 16.
He told City TV: "I am so happy for them. I play with them and I need to say thank you to them because we are playing so well and we are where we are in the table.
"From now, I want to score also and get close to them.
"We have a lot of games and I hope I get my chance and I will play.
"Everything is going well, I'm very happy to be back on the pitch and to be able to help the guys."
