Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet EFL matches...

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Barnsley v Leeds, Saturday 12.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

A cracking way to start the weekend! It's always a good atmosphere at Oakwell but it usually ratchets up a notch or two when Leeds come to town. Barnsley won this one in January, but they've got almost an entirely different team now and Paul Heckingbottom has done a fantastic job there.

Leeds were hammered at Wolves in midweek but they won't be the first or last side to get a hiding at Molineux this season, and this is another tough trip for them. Score draw for me.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 with Samu Saiz to score first (30/1 with Sky Bet)

Sheffield United v Birmingham, Saturday 5.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

What a mad game it was at Bramall Lane against Fulham on Tuesday night! Nine goals, two hat-tricks, late drama, it had it all. Sheffield United will just be disappointed that they were on the wrong side of it!

Chris Wilder's side usually bounce back quickly from defeats, though, and Birmingham could be ideal opposition for them in that respect. They're still finding their feet under Steve Cotterill and this is a home banker for me, especially with the goalscoring form that Leon Clarke is in.

QPR v Brentford. Monday 7.45pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

A west London derby under the lights on a Monday night at Loftus Road? This should be a great encounter. QPR have slipped off the boil a little bit with three defeats on the spin, and they'll want to get back to winning ways as quickly as possibly so they don't slip back into danger.

Brentford will provide tough opposition, and this should be an entertaining game between two sides who love to attack. But I can't separate them. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 with Conor Washington to score first (30/1 with Sky Bet)

Aston Villa v Ipswich, Saturday 3pm

Villa have put that disappointing result at home to Sheffield Wednesday before the international break behind them with a couple of great wins since and they're finally starting to get up to the part of the table you'd expect them to be in.

Ipswich were excellent on Wednesday night against Sheffield Wednesday and you wonder how much conceding that late equaliser will play on their minds here. Home win.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Burton v Sunderland, Saturday 3pm

What a massive game this is. For both teams. This is where Chris Coleman's tenure really starts at Sunderland because they were never realistically going to get anything from Villa Park in midweek, and a win could really help kick-start things there for him.

It's a big game for Burton as well. A home game against a side below them in the league presents a real opportunity to claim a victory, and they'll be right up for this. It will be tight, but I have to back Nigel Clough's men to edge it.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Middlesbrough v Derby, Saturday 3pm

It looks like things have come together for these two sides, despite Middlesbrough's disappointing loss at Leeds at the weekend, and they'll both be challenging for at least the play-off places this season.

The only thing separating the two heading into the weekend is the all-important invisible line between sixth and seventh in the table, and it could be just as tight as that on the pitch. I fancy an entertaining draw.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (14/1 with Sky Bet)

Reading v Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

That comeback to draw at Bolton will have helped to lift a little bit of the pressure on Jaap Stam on Tuesday night, but Reading are still suffering a little from the burden of expectation after doing so well last season.

That being said, they'd expect to be doing a lot better than they are, and this will be another tough game for them. Sheffield Wednesday's late equaliser at Ipswich in midweek will have been a huge boost and I fancy them to carry that momentum into Saturday.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (9/1 with Sky Bet)

Wolves v Bolton, Saturday 3pm

On paper this is nothing but a comfortable home win. Bolton have been on a good unbeaten run but still need to turn more of those draws into victories if they're going to climb away from danger.

That being said, I can't see anything but another three points for Wolves, who have been imperious of late and will have too much for the Trotters all over the pitch.

Prutton predicts: 2-0 (9/2 with Sky Bet)

Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Wolves and Leeds United

Scunthorpe v Charlton, Saturday 3pm

Third meets fourth on Saturday in a battle between two of the form sides in Sky Bet League One! Scunthorpe have won five on the spin and will be very confident at home, while Charlton could be even closer to the top two if they win their games in hand.

It's a tough one to call, and while it would be tempting to go for a draw and say both sides will keep up their unbeaten runs, I just about have to back the home side for victory.

Prutton predicts: 2-0 (9/1 with Sky Bet)

Exeter v Accrington, Saturday 3pm

This is a big game for Exeter, whose form has slipped a bit lately and they won't want to lose anymore ground between themselves and the top three.

They're currently fourth and four points off Accrington in third, and seven points would be a huge gap to bridge all of a sudden. With that in mind, I think both sides would probably just about take a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)
