Boulding has spent just one season with The Mariners, following his move from Mansfield Town last summer, but has impressed scoring 11 goals in 35 games.
A number of clubs have shown interest in the 26-year-old, whose great asset is said to be electric pace, despite the player previously stating he wanted to sign a new contract at Blundell Park.
He has since admitted that the lure of Premiership football would interest him, and West Ham have been mentioned along with relegated Leicester City as clubs interested in capturing Boulding.
Middlesbrough appear to be planning major changes to their forward line for next season, with Empoli's Massimo Maccarone and South Africa star Benni McCarthy expected to join the Riverside club in the next few weeks.
Former tennis professional Boulding may not have the international reputation of either player, but he would be available on a Bosman free transfer, which may help convince Steve McClaren that he would be a useful purchase.
