Hatters net Jones

STOCKPORT have signed Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones on a month's loan.

Hatters boss Carlton Palmer has been keen to strengthen his goalkeeping options and after learning that top target Alan Blayney had been offered a new three-year deal at Southampton, he moved for Jones.

The Australian Under-20 international has failed to make the breakthrough at The Riverside, with Mark Schwarzer and Mark Crossley ahead of him in the pecking order.

Boro are keen for Jones to go out on loan so that he can gain valuable first team football which he cannot get at The Riverside.

Jones will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game with Huddersfield and if impressing he could make it a long-term loan.
