Riggott limped out of Boro's game with Everton with a knee injury and he visited a specialist on Monday who confirmed that he had torn knee cartilage.
The on-loan Derby star, who is expected to complete a permanent switch to The Riverside at the end of the season, has already had surgery on the injury and will be out for three to four weeks.
Youngster Davies has contracted mumps and is being forced to rest.
He had been expected to play in Boro's youth team clash with Luton on Thursday and could also have been in contention to benefit from Riggott's injury, but the contracting of epidemic parotitis has ruled him out.
Both are unlikely to see action again until April.
