The 27-year-old has just agreed a deal with Boro until the end of the season, after his contract at Sao Paulo was bought out.
However, Sao Paulo are now locked in a row with two investors who gave them the money to buy Ricardinho from Corinthians.
"What has happened in Sao Paulo, I prefer not to comment anymore," Ricardinho told Radio Jovem Pan.
"Now I am with Middlesbrough.
"In truth I don't know much about this history - I had my contract only with Sao Paulo.
"When I was set free, I made right for Middlesbrough.
"I am very happy to be playing in Europe again. English football is well respected and well organised.
"Juninho and Doriva gave me information about Middlesbrough and they told me the club is well organised with a good structure and atmosphere.
"I have signed a four-month contract and there is a chance of renewing that at the beginning of next season.
"It was better to sign a short term deal rather than 12 months, as that would have taken me to the middle of next season."
Ricardinho was heralded as one of Brazil's best midfielders after his time with Corinthians, but he failed to secure a big move and ended up with Sao Paulo, where things never worked out.
Like his old team-mate Kaka, who moved to Milan last year - Ricardinho is now hoping a move can rekindle his form and passion for the game.
