Preston North End have signed Middlesbrough goalkeeper Carlo Nash.Preston North End have signed Middlesbrough goalkeeper Carlo Nash.
The Championship side have paid £175,000 for Nash - who was number two at The Riverside Stadium.
The 31-year-old has signed a three-and-half year deal at Deepdale and ends a two-year spell at Boro - in which time he made five first team appearances.
"We're delighted to bring in a top quality goalkeeper with the experience he's got and the level that he's played at we're just delighted to have him at the club," said Preston boss Billy Davies.
"We know all about his goalkeeping, he's worked at some very big clubs in the past few years and I think he's been very unfortunate because he's had to be understudy to some top top goalkeepers.
"At Middlesbrough he was particularly unlucky, he was second choice to Mark Schwarzer and that's difficult for anybody but we know all about his background, we know all about his ability and we're delighted he's here.
"He's got a lovely personality and the most important thing is that we have got this lad at 6'5" with great stature who will now come in and be part of our long term plans."
Australian youth international Brad Jones will now serve as number two to Mark Schwarzer at Boro, although England Under-21 shot-stopper Ross Turnbull is likely to challenge him when he returns from injury.
As a result of Preston signing Nash, Chris Day has returned to QPR following his loan spell in Lancashire.
