Middlesbrough are pushing ahead with their move for Emanuel Pogatetz.Skysports.com understand that Middlesbrough are pushing ahead with their move for Austrian full back Emanuel Pogatetz.
The Austrian international along with fellow countryman Rene Aufhauser are very high on Steve McClaren's list of potential summer signings.
Now McClaren is set to push through a deal for Pogatetz who could provide the competition at left back that the Boro boss is looking for.
The 22-year-old is owned by Bayer Leverkusen but he has finished the season with Spartak Moscow.
Before that he spent two seasons on loan at hometown club Grazer - who he was with before joining Spartak in April.
The Russians are keen to seal a deal for the talented international, but Boro are reportedly leading the chase as Pogatetz wants a move to England.
Pogatetz impressed the Boro management team during Grazer's Uefa Cup campaign, which came to an end on Teesside.
The left back played in both legs and did enough to convince McClaren that he could cut it in The Premiership.
Having already bagged striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni, McClaren is now concentrating on other areas of his squad that need strengthening and left back is one of those positions as he currently only has Franck Queudrue at his disposal.
