Bayer Leverkusen have told Emanuel Pogatetz to forget about moving to England.Bayer Leverkusen have told Middlesbrough and Fulham to forget about signing Emanuel Pogatetz.
The 22-year-old full back was targeted by Boro after he impressed against them playing for Grazer in the Uefa Cup.
Fulham, who like Boro also want Grazer's Rene Aufhauser, are also keen on Pogatetz.
The left back, who can also play in the middle, is currently with Spartak Moscow on loan from Bayer Leverkusen.
Pogatetz joined Spartak in April, after spending the previous 18 months on loan at Grazer.
Having learned of the English interest Pogatetz, who has three years left on his Leverkusen deal, is understood to have made it known of his desire to move to The Premiership.
However, Pogatetz's impressive form means Bayer boss Klaus Augenthaler wants him back and he expects him to join up with his squad in the summer.
"I have told him that he had committed himself to us," said Augenthaler, who regards the player as the ideal long-term replacement for injury-prone skipper Jens Nowotny.
"I expect him to join us after his holidays and I am sure that he will give his best for us then."
